THE TREASURES IN THE CRATE

Discussing her attempts to verify some of the dates cited on the preceding pages, Sophora stated in an e-mail message, “While looking in my files for documentation of the date we moved from Abernathy to the ranch (1944), I found a small file crate of material brought here after Mother's funeral and which had not seen the light of day since.  Contained therein were some pictures, a couple of Mother's journals, as well as a copy of another of her journals, and copies of ‘Grandmother Remembers’ books she prepared for three of her grandchildren.” There were other invaluable treasures, too, including Ewald’s birth certificate and Ewald and Ruby’s marriage license.
