2007 Annual Iris Show --
IRIS SOCIETY OF AUSTIN PRESENTed "FUN IN BLOOM" — ITS NINETEENTH SHOW

The Iris Society of Austin in cooperation with the American Iris Society presented “Fun in Bloom” on Saturday, April 7, 2007, in the Zilker Botanical Garden Auditorium from 1until 4 P.M.  Admission to this nineteenth accredited show was free.

Enteries were received from 7:30 A.M. to 9:45 A.M.  Judging began at 10: 15A.M.   All exhibits remained in place until 4 P.M.
Show Chairmen were Pat Byrne and Marney Abel.  Ken Fuchs prepared the show schedule and also served as secretary and awards chair for the show. Don Freeman and Mike Renfro had staging and properties; David Kraemer had enteries and classifications; and David Lewis Steed was in charge of placement in the iris category such as tall bearded, space agers, aril-arilbred, historic, Louisiana, Spuria.

Pat Freeman pre-registered those persons interested in Artistic Designs.  Classes in Division IV the Artistic Division included the following:

     "Sunny Disposition" -- for the Novice or anyone who has never won a blue ribbon for a design
     "Celebrate"  --  a Religious Design
     "Double Your Pleasure"  -- Use of 2 Containers
     "Blooms for any Occasion"  --  the Designer’s Choice
     "Fun with Iris" — A Table for Two

Sonja Hensley advised the clerks, and Jim Landers selected the judges.  Lila Lewis was in charge of Hospitality.

All members helped clean up and close the show by 5 P.M.

Volunteers were involved with publicity for the event.  Nelda Moore provided posters, flyers, and publicity cards for distribution.

2007 Annual Judges' Training School --
The annual Judges' Training School hosted by the Iris Society of Austin was held Saturday morning, January 6, in the auditorium of the Austin Area Garden Center, 2220 Barton Springs Road, Zilker Botanical Garden.  Registration began at 8:30 A. M. and the session lasted from 9 to 12.  Peggy Lamb, past president of the Dallas Iris Society,  presented the program.  The topic of the session was "Tall Bearded Iris Exhibition and Show Rules."  There was a $5 fee for those attendees seeking credit for certification as a judge, but the session was of general interest to everyone interested in irises and was open to everyone.  The regular monthly meeting of the Iris Society of Austin followed the training session, beginning with a pot-luck luncheon at 12 noon.
2006 Iris Show --
The Iris Society of Austin in cooperation with the American Iris Society presented its annual iris show on Sunday, April 17, in the auditorium of the the Austin Area Garden Center, 2220 Barton Springs Road, Zilker Botanical Garden.  Judging began at 10:15 A.M. and the show was open for public viewing 1- 4 P.M.  The show was a free event to the public.  Pat Byrne was the show chairman.
