Central Texas Iris Society dissolves
At the Monday, September 13, 2021 meeting at the St Paul United Methodist Church's Fellowship Hall, 2407 West Ave. P, Temple, TX, ten members were present. None of the members there volunteered or were willing to serve as new officers for the 2021-2022 year. After general discussion, members mutually agreed to dissolve the Central Texas Iris Society, formerly the Belton Iris Society, which was organized on April 18, 1951.
NEXT MEETING:
Monday, October 11, 2021 6 P.M. Dinner meeting at Los Tres Magueyes Cantina & Grill,
2801 S General Bruce Dr, Temple, TX 76504. This will be the FINAL meeting of the Central Texas Iris Society.
CTIS 2021 Virtual Iris Show
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the CTIS 2021 Iris Show that was planned for April 17 was canceled, but members have shared pictures of irises blooming in their gardens on April 17. You can view them in our virtual iris show here.
On October 12th, 2020 at 6 pm, we had a tailgating meeting (not the fancy kind with barbeque and drinks) at St Paul United Methodist Church's parking lot (2407 West Ave. P, Tempe, TX). There was no potluck or program. Members brought dues of $10.00 and received their free membership iris via random chance.
Pictures and descriptions of the 20-21 Membership Irises can be viewed here.
CANCELED
Due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus the Central Texas Iris Society meetings on April 13,
May 1, and the 2020 Iris Show scheduled for April 18 were canceled. Please stay at home and be safe. The scheduled meeting on September 14 was also canceled.
VIRTUAL IRIS SHOW - We encourage everyone on April 18th to take pictures of their irises that they would have brought to the show. Email them to Ken Fuchs at kenfuchs42@gmail.com with the names of the irises. Unfortunately, no prizes can be awarded for our Virtual Iris Show, but we can enjoy the pictures at our May meeting. It is the individual's responsibility to get the pictures to Ken, so on the 18th, start snapping, typing names, and sending photos.
